Kate has conquered her dislike of water!!!
I never thought I would see this 🙂
I took her swimming several times over the summer to help build her confidence. She would finally go in the water after some coaxing, pleading, and begging but wasn’t very happy about it. By the end of summer she would walk through the water as long as it didn’t touch her belly. Since Rose LOVES the water, I had kind of given up with trying to get Kate to like the water.
Why do I want her in the water…
because of these little darlings.
The ducks have been free range without incidence since the beginning of summer, but a racoon put an end to that a couple weeks ago. It took our beautiful drake and since then the girls have been getting locked up at night.
This would be an easy task, except for the fact that they like to stay here…
smack dab in the middle of the pond. Even if I find them out of the pond, they are quick to get back there when they see me coming. I have tried to explain that it is in their best interest to go to the safe pen at night, but they just don’t see it that way.
Rose isn’t quite to the point where she can coax the ducks to leave the pond. She likes to dive and jump and run and stir things up. The ducks just look at her like she is crazy and they stay safe and sound in the middle of the pond 😉
So, I had to have Kate help me. I was shocked and delighted when she did this…
Oh how I love this dog and everything she does for me!
Not so sure the girls are loving her at this point, but they are safe and sound in their pen!
Rose thought the whole situation was much too calm and controlled!
Border Collies are simply amazing.
Great job Kate! What an amazing dog you have, Shannon.
She’s lovely! What a good dog.
PS. Her Dad didn’t like water either.
Border collies are amazing and Kate is the best 🙂 Thanks Elizabeth! She has exceeded all expectations I had. She would make you proud watching her work.
Way to go Kate (and Shannon!) My BC, Mobi, also does not like water. But, maybe there is hope! Maybe I just need to find the right motivator – he does love herding sheep so maybe I need to get ducks!
Way to go Kate! That want-to-work drive is stronger than her fear. 🙂 She is simply the most awesome BC I’ve met. Love Kate!! 😀
Collies and Kate both are amazing…This is really an interesting story of him…There pics are also very cute..
