The summer has been flying by, just like the little Goldfinches. Each morning starts with them taunting me…I can hear them through the windows and just as I grab my camera and sneak out the door, I see them flying away and singing their little song.
Not today!
I finally caught them!
I have so many favorite birds that visit our farm – quail, swallows, doves, pheasants, but I think the goldfinches top this list.
Their vibrant colors and joyful chattering is very contagious. You can’t help but be happy when you are watching them.
They were focused on the thistle and I finally got the pictures I was hoping for!
I’m not a fan of the thistle, but I do love the goldfinches that it brings!
Love them! I do the same thing every year when they come for the sunflowers. I have to hide and then sneak out to catch them. It’s worth though – they are so pretty!
Prettyfull!!!
What gorgeous birds!
Thought you might like to see this item of news about an abandoned lamb in Australia. I think it is a dorper cross, it has been adopted by a dalmatian. I hope this link works http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-08-10/spotted-lamb-seeks-dalmation-mother/4190060 .
Interesting photos, all that fibre from the thistles. The goldfinches are colourful creatures…. are they after the seed, or are there small insects trapped in the thistle?
They would pull the fluff out and get to the seeds attached to the bottom.
Now i get the context of all the fluff! Good way to disperse seeds, and sure wind will puff away the ones that aren’t eaten.
