This week’s challenge over at Sunday Stills is flowers and plants. This is not a subject I find myself photographing very often. With camera in hand I headed out to the pasture to see what I could find.
This plant with it’s beautiful shades of green and purple immediately caught my attention. I have no idea what it is, but I think it is pretty in an understated kind of way.
It certainly is not flamboyant.

It is a very pretty plant, love the colors. I also have some in my pastures and would love to know what it is. Can anyone identify it?
You did well! I’ve seen that plant on the W side of Oregon…none here on the desert side…don’t know what it is though.
In Kentucky those flowers will color the fields so that the whole field looks purple. Great pictures

Is it in the mint family? The best way to tell is if it’s stem is square.

Very good shots. We have fields full of that plant around here, but I don’t know what it is – it makes for an interesting photo shot though.

We have a whole bunch of those growing wild too. I have not idea the name of the flower but they are really pretty close up.

Ahhh, that’s called “Heal All”, it is in the mint family and it’s Latin name is Prunella vulgaris. As it’s name indicates it’s an all around wonderful herb, but very invasive!

Here in NW Ohio it’s called False Nettle. It’s a weed in our fields. I do like the maroon/purple shades though, even if it is a weed!
