Veronica had triplets on March 2nd and she has made the entire event look very easy.
I am not a fan of triplets because they can lead to a lot of extra work. The chance of having a difficult labor is increased, making sure they all have enough to eat is usually a concern, making sure mom has enough food to keep up with the extra demands is another concern, and they usually end up being smaller than other lambs the same age. None of the above is true for Veronica and her babies.
I have always had a lot of respect for her mothering style, but she is really impressing me this year. She makes sure they each get a turn eating and when it comes time for her to eat, she takes them to a corner of the barn, tells them to stay and returns for them when she is done. She does this every year with her lambs, but I wasn’t sure how she was going to get 3 lambs to follow directions so obediently. Once again, she has done it and is making it look simple.
And as far as the lambs…they are looking fabulous!

Wow – I knew she was big but those are three healthy sized lambs!! As well as lovely : ) It’s incredible that they do as she bids…you couldn’t do that with 3 children!!
Fascinating! I think I would choose HER ewe lambs as replacement ewes!
Only one of the triplets is a girl and she is already reserved. One of our main rams is a son of Veronica’s and we have several of his daughter’s, some will be bred this year. It will be interesting to see if the mothering abilities are passed down.
I love their cute little black noses!
What nice, well fed lambs! I love the different mothering styles of Jacob ewes.
What a good momma, and beautiful lambs too. I’m with you on the triplets.
Yeah for Veronica! I am quite impressed. We have had three sets of triplets with the goats this year, and I am drowning in bottles trying to make sure everyone has enough food. Moms too. I am very impressed with her!
I had the bottles ready, but am so glad I didn’t have to use them. I am thankful I only had the one set of triplets!
you said it about the trips…. we are worried about our Debbie and her goat babies. her’s are milking her down to skin and bones. we took 2 of them off her except to milk twice a day. maybe she should call Veronica for some mommy tips
I was really concerned about Veronica, but she is sure showing me! Good luck with Debbie and her babies!
Congrats x3 to Veronica! Is she offering lamaze or parenting classes anytime soon? 😉
I think I will have her give everyone a ‘Lambing 101’ class next year 🙂
I enjoyed looking at your beautiful pictures and reading you blog.
Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoyed the visit.
Just adorable, they are beautiful!
